Product Overview:

505nm, 100mW Cyan Laser Source System Overview

This plug-and-play laser source utilizes Coherent's Optically Pumped Semiconductor Laser (OPSL) technology to deliver industry-best laser reliability and performance. OBIS LX/LS lasers deliver high optical power with low noise, and high beam quality. The plug-and-play system is flexible, and users are able to rapidly integrate the laser. The result is reduced set-up time and time-to-market in OEM applications, and reduced cost. The highly-functional OBIS LS/LX Systems are ideal for scientific, laboratory, and spectroscopic applications.

The OBIS Series laser source systems cover the wavelength spectrum from 375nm (Ultraviolet) to 980nm (near-Infrared), and are perfect for flow cytometry and fluorescence spectroscopy applications.

Operating Flexibility with Multiple Modulation Modes

The OBIS laser system can be operated in CW mode, or modulated in multiple modes: analog signals, digital signals, and combined analog/digital signals. The laser can be modulated to full-off output, ensuring no photons are emitted. LS modules can be modulated to full-off output using the digital modulation mode. The LX modules can be modulated to full-off using the analog modulation mode with a Blanking Enabled feature.

Complete Plug-and-Play Cyan Laser Source System

The complete OBIS system includes: the laser head and power supply, remote controller, and all interconnect cables. The laser system is operated remotely via USB or RS232, and the PC control software is included.

The OBIS system is carefully designed to ensure a long service lifetime of hiqh quality performance, and to help protect the laser operator during use. The key switch prevents unauthorized use, and the safety interlock allows a remote switch to be wired. The OBIS remote controller includes front-panel indicators: Laser Ready, Laser On, and a Fault indicator. A connector is provided for driving a cooling fan, and for temperature stabilization the OBIS laser head can be mounted to the OBIS fan-heatsink.

Laser System Options and Availability

The turn-key OBIS laser sources are available in a wide range of wavelengths and output powers, either fiber-coupled or with a free-space output, and multiple sources can be simultaneously operated from a single computer. When application requirements change, laser heads of different wavelengths are speedily exchanged on the bench.

A number of bandpass filters are available for the free-space laser heads, and are useful in applications that benefit from reduced noise at longer wavelengths. Filters are available at 445nm, 473nm, 488nm, 633nm, and 640nm, and attach directly to the front of the laser head.

Two OBIS laser models are available at 505nm, at multiple output power options:
  • The LX model can be digitally modulated up to 150MHz, 500kHz analog. Maximum output power models: 20mW, 60mW, 80mW, 100mW, and 150mW.
  • The LS model can be digitally modulated up to 50kHz, 100kHz analog. Maximum output power models: 30mW and 100mW.

  • A range of accessories are available for multi-laser applications: two six-laser controller models for OEM and benchtop applications, a machined heatsink with integrated cooling fan, and an full-feature mounting and control system that incorporates independent laser controllers, modulation inputs, and thermal management for up to five OBIS laser heads.
