Product Overview:

These DBR laser diodes from eagleyard photonics are offered in a hermetically sealed butterfly package housing. This device offers up to 10mW of optical power. The data sheet references replacement of HeNe lasers as a primary application. These 633nm devices offer monitor photo-diode, thermoelectric cooler and thermistor as well as a collimated output beam. Key specifications from the attached data sheet include a center wavelength of 633.0 (+/-1nm) and a typical spectral width, full width half maximum, of 1 MHz. The temperature tuning coefficient for these laser is 0.045nm per degree Kelvin, and the current tuning coefficient is 0.001nm per mA of forward bias drive current. These devices offer a high side mode suppression ratio of > 30 dB and typically deliver a 90% degree of polarization. The technology is based on a distributed Bragg reflector. The reflector (Bragg mirror) is located external to the gallium arsenide based active area.
