Product Overview:

Driver for Fiber-coupled AOM Overview:

This combined analog / digital-input RF driver integrates with AeroDiode's acousto-optic modulators (AOM). This model accepts separate low-level TTL and analog signals, and amplifies the combined signal to drive the acousto-optic modulator at 200 MHz.

Principle of Operation - RF Driver and AOM

Acousto-optic modulators operate at a particular design frequency, which is determined by the configuration of the Bragg cell. A high-powered RF signal is needed to drive the AOM, typically more power is needed than can be delivered by a small-signal high-frequency RF signal generator; an RF driver is used to amplify the RF signal to the AOM.

Analog and Digital Signal RF Drivers

In addition to the Analog/TTL-input RF driver, there is also an analog signal driver that operates at 200 MHz. A digital signal driver RF generator is available that for TTL-signals at 200 MHz.

The RF driver frequency must be matched to the AOM; when you order an acousto-optic modulator and RF driver, we'll match the driver frequency to the AOM that you've chosen for your application.
