Sharp 405nm, 350 mW, Laser Diode Description

These 405nm diode lasers from SHARP Electronics come in a two pin, 5.6 mm, hermetically-sealed TO-can package.

The following precautions should be taken when handling these devices: The glass on the package window is quite thin and is susceptible to cracking when handling. Therefore, caution should be taken to avoid any mechanical shock or to over-tighten the header when soldering or attaching to a PCB. The anode and cathode pins can be over-stressed and are easily bent.

Proper Handling and Operation of Laser Diodes:
Laser diodes are highly susceptible to damage from ESD and from temperatures exceeding their specified safe operating range. The user is advised to use care and proper ESD safety practices when handling them to avoid damage to the laser. A properly rated low noise current source, a low thermal resistance mount and a temperature controller should be used for optimal device performance and reliability.
