Turn-Key Benchtop 808nm, 2.5 Watt Laser Diode System with 62.5um Fiber Core Output
These turn-key, pre-configured laser diode systems include an 808nm 2.5 W laser diode with a 62.5um fiber output from the back panel. These systems offer a simple to use turn-key source for research applications. Key applications include power transmission over fiber R&D. The integrated 2.5 Watt laser diode has a fiber core diameter of 62.5 μm with a 2 mm outer jacket. The fiber is terminated with an SMA-905 style connector (standard) but can also be ordered with an FC/APC connector. This laser source system is a well-designed and affordable pre-configured solution for research applications.
Air-Cooled Thermal Control System
These units have an integrated high power TEC temperature controller with a full P.I.D. control loop to deliver fast and efficient heat removal from the source laser module. The laser diode is mounted on a Peltier / TEC cooled, nickel plated copper mounting plate. The mounting plate offers very high surface finish and flatness for low thermal impedance. The cooled mounting plate for the laser is attached to a fan cooled air duct to remove the waste heat and keep the laser temperature stable.
High Power 808nm Laser Diode Source Protection
Integrated protection features include a factory pre-set current limit, slow start current ramp to the user specified set point, factory pre-set temperature limits and clamping circuitry to protect the laser against power surges. The factory set default maximum current level is set during the calibration process to ensure the laser is not over-driven and damaged. The temperature limits are determined during calibration and are also factory set within a safe operating range to protect the laser against over-heating.
Users have full control of the fiber coupled laser module power through a touch-key front panel menu and LCD display or through the digital interface. You control the high power laser diode amplitude by adjusting the current level or adjusting the laser in automatic power (APC) control mode (Watts of optical power) based on the internal monitor photodiode feedback to the bias current and temperature controller. These systems can be controlled remotely by the standard RS232 interface, or by the optional USB interface. They ship with LabView drivers and a terminal control software programming suite.
