505nm, 40mW Blue Laser Source System Overview

These plug-and-play laser sources utilize Coherent's Optically Pumped Semiconductor Laser (OPSL) technology to deliver industry-best laser reliability and performance. The cyan 505nm fiber-coupled source system is available at 40mW ex-fiber output power.

OBIS LX/LS lasers deliver high optical power with low noise, and high beam quality. The flexibility of the plug-and-play system allows users to rapidly integrate the laser, reducing set-up time and time-to-market in OEM applications, and reducing cost. The highly-functional OBIS LS/LX Systems are ideal for scientific, laboratory, and spectroscopic applications.

The OBIS Series laser source systems cover the wavelength spectrum from 375nm (Ultraviolet) to 980nm (near-Infrared), and are perfect for flow cytometry and fluorescence spectroscopy applications.

Complete Turn-Key Cyan Laser Source System

The complete OBIS system includes: the laser head, remote controller, power supply, interconnect cable, and the output fiber with the high-reliability extended-life output interface. The OBIS system is fast and simple to set up on the bench top, with only three connections to the controller: the power cable, the I/O cable to the laser head, and the USB cable to the computer.

The fiber output face is angled at 8º to prevent back-reflection. Designed for ultra high reliability over along life-time, it is not compatible with standard FC/APC fiber connectors.

The laser system is controlled remotely via USB or RS232, and the PC control software is included.

The OBIS system provides features to ensure a long operating lifetime, and to help protect the user while operating the laser. The key switch prevents unauthorized use, and the interlock connection allows a safety switch to be wired. The OBIS remote controller includes indicators on the front panel: Fault, Laser Ready, and Laser On. Accommodation is provided for driving a cooling fan, and for simplified temperature stabilization the OBIS laser head can be mounted to the OBIS fan-heatsink.

Operating Flexibility with Multiple Modulation Modes

The OBIS laser system can be operated in CW mode, or modulated in multiple modes: analog signals, digital signals, and combined analog/digital signals. The laser can be modulated to full-off output, ensuring no photons are emitted. LS modules can be modulated to full-off output using the digital modulation mode, and the LX modules can be modulated to full-off using the analog modulation mode with a software-enabled Blanking feature.

Laser Heads Available Individually

The turn-key OBIS laser sources are available in a wide range of wavelengths and output powers, either fiber-coupled or with a free-space output, and multiple sources can be simultaneously operated from a single computer. When application requirements change, laser heads of different wavelengths are effortlessly interchanged on the bench.

A range of multi-laser accessories are available: two six-laser controller models for OEM and benchtop applications, a machined heatsink with cooling fan attached, and an integrated mounting and control system that incorporates laser controllers, modulation inputs, and thermal management for five different OBIS laser heads.
