Product Overview:

These 635nm, 5 Watt source and control systems offer a complete plug and play solution for R&D applications. The LDX-635NM-5W is a pre-configured and fully calibrated system. It includes the high power fiber coupled laser diode, the controller, the heat sink and Peltier cooled mounting plate, and all interface cables. The current source and Peltier / TEC controller have power ranges which are compatible with the laser, and the control unit comes with pre-set upper temperature and current limits to protect the laser. The mounting plate is machined with mounting holes matching the package footprint and is optimized for TEC based cooling and temperature stabilization in lab environments.

User has Complete Control of the 635nm Laser Diode:
The user has complete control of the 5W laser through the front panel of the control unit or through the rear panel digital I/O. The user controls the bias current, temperature set-point, CW or modulated mode and all other parameters. The controller front panel has an LCD display with a touch key-pad. The menu structure is simple to operate and features a status menu with current and actual temperature for the default home page setting. These systems come with an RS-232 interface and can be ordered with an optional USB interface. LabView drivers are available free of charge charge. A LabView GUI makes set-up and control of the system fast and simple.

High Power Laser Diode Source Protection:
High power laser diode protection features include a factory pre-set current limit, slow start current ramp to the user specified set point, factory pre-set temperature limits and clamping circuitry to protect the laser against power surges. The factory set default maximum current level is set during the calibration process to ensure the laser is not over-driven and damaged. The temperature limits are determined during calibration and are also factory set within a safe operating range to protect the laser against over-heating. In addition to the current the temperature limit protection settings, the user has the option of setting the soft-start current ramp time from 300 milliseconds up to 10 seconds. The system is set to a 300 millisecond ramp as the default mode for shipment. This user adjustable current ramp allows you to customize the "power on" sequence of the source for your specific application.

635nm Laser Heat Sink and TEC Cooled Mounting Plate:
The laser heat sink uses a combination of TEC based cooing with a fan for heat removal from the base of the heat sink. No water is required for cooling. These heat sinks have a mounting plate which is highly uniform and offers finish and flatness optimized for the 635nm fiber coupled modules.

QCW and Modulation Features:
In addition to standard CW mode, these units offer an external modulation input and circuitry and an internal function generator for quasi-CW pulsing applications. The internal function generator is used to generate QCW pulses from 20 μs to CW. The controller will also accept an external signal for the QCW trigger. The modulation can be either TTL or analog modulation from DC to 50 kHz. The modulation input is a BNC connector on the rear panel of the controller.
