Product Overview:
SIMPLE TO OPERATE AND FLEXIBLE: These all-inclusive systems ship with the 976nm laser diode installed and tested in a pre-configured control and mounting system (Driver / Temp. Controller + Mount + Cables). The user can remove and replace the laser diode in the future as needed.
976nm, 45 Watt, Turn-Key Laser Diode System Overview
The LDX-976NM-45W turn-key laser diode source and control system includes a Jenoptik fiber coupled 45W, 976nm laser diode as well as a pre-configured laser diode controller with the heat sink, laser mounting plate and cables. These all-inclusive systems are a complete plug and play solution for R&D applications. The laser source is a Jenoptik model 45CPXF-1L module. The controller is a 75 amp current source with a 336 watt Peltier/TEC temperature controller. The system also includes the high power Peltier cooled mounting plate and heat sink. The control systems are optimized for high power fiber coupled bar modules and are pre-tested with the laser module prior to shipment.
The heat sink mounting plate is machined for the Jenoptik laser diode and offers a high performance mounting solution. It is optimized for cooling and temperature stabilization of laser diodes in laboratory environments.
High Power Laser Diode Source Protection
High power laser diode protection features include a factory pre-set current limit, slow start current ramp to the user specified set point, factory pre-set temperature limits, and clamping circuitry to protect the laser against power surges. The factory set default maximum current level is set during the calibration process to ensure the laser is not over-driven and damaged. The temperature limits are determined during calibration and are also factory set within a safe operating range to protect the laser against over-heating. The user has the option of setting the soft-start current ramp time from 300 milliseconds up to 10 seconds; the system is set to a 300 millisecond ramp as the default mode for shipment. This adjustable current ramp allows the user to customize the "power on" sequence of the source for the specific application.
User has Complete Control of the 976nm Laser Diode
The user has complete control of the 45W laser through the front panel LCD display and touch keypad. The user can control the high power laser diode amplitude by adjusting the current level or adjusting the laser in automatic power (APC) control mode (Watts of optical power) based on the internal monitor photodiode feedback to the bias current and temperature controller.
The menu structure is simple to operate, and features a status menu with current and actual temperature for the default home page setting. These systems come with an RS-232 interface and can be ordered with an optional USB interface; LabView drivers are available free of charge charge.
QCW and Modulation Features
In addition to standard CW mode, these units offer an external modulation input and circuitry and an internal function generator for quasi-CW pulsing applications. The internal function generator is used to generate QCW pulses from 20 μs to CW. The controller will also accept an external signal for the QCW trigger. The modulation can be either TTL or analog modulated from DC to 50 kHz; the modulation input is a BNC connector on the rear panel of the controller.
TEC Based Temperature Control System
These units have an integrated high power TEC temperature controller with a full P.I.D. control loop to deliver fast and efficient heat removal from the source laser module. The laser diode is mounted on a Peltier / TEC cooled, nickel plated copper mounting plate. The mounting plate offers very high surface finish and flatness for low thermal impedance. The cooled mounting plate for the laser is attached to a fan cooled air duct to remove the waste heat and keep the laser temperature stable.
